HELLOWEEN - I want out (de cuando el heavy era simpático)

Ante la pregunta de cuál es la mejor y más famosa canción de Helloween, un 90% de metaleros responderían que sin duda es I want out. Y es curioso, porque este tema no estaba destinado a ser uno de los principales del disco Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 2 al que pertenece. De hecho, fue el segundo single, por detrás de una canción muy simpática pero también más simple como Dr. Stein. El single, por cierto, salió en el año 1988 y contaba con Save us y Don't run for cover en la cara B. Una joyita, vamos.

I want out fue escrita por Kai Hansen, que en alguna ocasión reveló que ese deseo de ruptura y escape que se refleja en la canción era el reflejo de las ganas que él tenía de abandonar Helloween. No tardó mucho en conseguirlo, y desde entonces vive feliz con su grupete Gamma Ray, que no está mal, pero queda muy por debajo de lo que apuntaba Helloween en sus primeros discos.

El videoclip oficial me gusta mucho porque transmite muy bien ese espíritu simpático de los inicios de Helloween. Hay escenas que parecen sacadas de una película cómica, y en todo momento se nota el buen rollo y el colegueo que había entre los miembros del grupo. Eso pese a las ansias de libertad que empezaba a tener el pequeño troll Kai Hansen.

Al ser un tema tan popular, I want out no se escapó de ser versioneada varias veces. Las versiones más conocidas son las de HammerFall y Sonata Arctica, pero corramos un estupido velo y volvamos a la versión original. Los derechos de la canción pertenecen legalmente a Kai Hansen, que la toca frecuentemente en sus conciertos con Gamma Ray. También forma parte del repertorio en directo de Helloween, y sin problemas oiga.
